Leaf International 2020 – Creating the Circular City

Leaf International addresses 2 areas that are part of the WOBO focus – resources and sustainability.

“Transforming today’s cities into sustainable cities is one of the main tasks to transition to the circular economy. In a world where several resources are becoming scarce, the wellbeing of future generations will depend on our ability to challenge our approach and explore the way to a resilient, sustainable and healthy urban environment”.

Creating the Circular City

For over 19 years, the LEAF Forum has been bringing together senior decision makers from leading international architectural practices, contractors, developers, engineers, designers and suppliers to discuss future building projects, as well as share ideas and best practice within the industry.

In light of the recent global developments around the COVID-19 virus, we have made the decision to bring the LEAF Forum to you as a virtual event this year. We have partnered with an outstanding virtual platform that presents the opportunity for you to showcase your organisation and engage with influential decision-makers. Attendees can share ideas, innovations, initiatives and take part in virtual chats and private 1-2-1 conversations. There will also be the opportunity to engage with presentations on the main stage, and in Q&As with the speakers and sponsors, maintaining the same level of engagement that our live events have done in the past.

For its 20th edition the Leading European Architecture Forum will be exploring many international initiatives and examples of urban planning that are pursuing the concept of circularity within the built environment.

As major engines for economic growth, cities can drive the circular economy agenda forward to unlock economic, environmental, and social benefits. More than half of the world’s population currently lives in cities, while projections show an increase to two thirds by 2050. Cities consume over 75% of natural resources, produce over 50% of global waste, and emit between 60-80% of greenhouse gases.

During LEAF 2020, we will be looking at how to enable the shift towards a more resource efficient and circular building industry; how circular urban planning can make life healthier and safer; and discuss new possibilities in the built environment.

Our virtual forum will offer a platform for connecting industry leaders and learning about recent developments and trends in design, architecture and urban planning.
