Webinars: Dates for your Diary

Development opportunities.

On 6 June BSi are running a launch webinar for a new standard called PAS 8700 on offsite construction of residential buildings. Join them if you’d like to hear more.

Specifically, they will go through:

  • An outline of the proposed PAS document
  • What it’s intended to achieve
  • Outputs from the scoping workshops
  • A potential contents list
  • A project plan, including ways you can get involved

This free webinar is partly to advertise this very important new standard to the sector, and partly to solicit the widest possible engagement in its creation, to achieve the broadest level of consensus.

If you join them on 6 June you’ll get:

  • A first look at this proposed new standard on offsite construction
  • A clear understanding of what it aims to do
  • Information on how you can get involved in the standard’s development process
  • The opportunity to put your questions to BSI and our subject expert
If you’re involved in modular volumetric construction, want to contribute to the standard, or are just curious to learn more, book your free place at this webinar now.

FSM Webinar with BAFE

Join us for the next FSM webinar with Apollo on 25 May at 10.30am to learn about the importance of choosing the right fire detection system.

This webinar is designed to provide the audience with a top-level understanding of different types of fire systems. It’s vital that premises are installed with suitable and reliable fire systems to ensure reliable and accurate detection, which can both eliminate unwanted/false alarms and be critical to protect both the premises and the occupants.  –  This session will also share why certain fire systems are best suited to different environments, share supporting products and compare protocol capabilities.

All attendees will receive a one-hour CPD certificate. – CLICK HERE TO REGISTER

Building Information Modeling (BIM) has been around for several decades now, but its benefits became prominent in the mid-2000s as the construction industry underwent significant digitization.

BIM is an information management process that employs digital technologies and collaborative working. It utilizes a shared digital representation of an asset to facilitate design, construction, and operation processes, serving as a reliable basis for decision-making. BIM promotes greater efficiencies by enabling significant pre-planning during the design and construction phases and providing comprehensive information at the handover stage.

This structured and collaborative environment is critical in implementing data-driven sustainability programs that provide greater transparency, efficiency, and control of building systems. In this webinar, we will discuss how these fundamental aspects of BIM can contribute to driving and improving sustainability in the built environment.

What you will learn:

  • What is BIM (Building Information Modeling)?
  • How using BIM and a common data environment promotes collaboration and improves efficiencies in the construction process.
  • How BIM can help drive and achieve your sustainability mandate.

Electrifying most of the processes that can be electrified is step one towards decarbonizing the economy through renewables. There are, however, hard to abate industries and thermal uses that cannot be easily decarbonized by electricity and for which hydrogen and other zero carbon fuels could be the solution.
As hydrogen becomes a commercial reality, aided by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and the Inflation Reduction Act, utilities are looking to integrate hydrogen into their business models, with business models ranging from simply transporting the gas for clients to producing and blending it with natural gas to produce lower emissions fossil fuel electricity.
In this webinar we speak to utilities about their plans for developing hydrogen business lines and how they are positioning their business to partake in this key energy vector.
