WOBO had the privilege of participating in the International Code Council’s 30th Anniversary meeting in Long Beach, California, U.S.A.
WOBO President Paul Myers presented with Mr. Kimberly Lovegrove, Chair of the International Building Quality Centre (IBQC) on “Building Regulation, Public Safety, and the Importance of Quality”.
The session offered insight into the need for customized approaches in countries around the world, with differing hazard threats, governmental systems, and building typologies, to achieve quality construction that results in safe buildings.
The emphasis being on the generation of appropriate codes and effective inspection and enforcement.

WOBO’s Attendance at the conference also provided the opportunity to recognise the contribution of Omkar Channon in the drive to achieve safer buildings throughout the world.
The first WOBO LEGACY AWARD 2024 was presented to Omkar Channon during the ICC’s 30th Anniversary Meeting In Long Beach, California.
WOBO was established in June, 1984 in Saskatoon, Canada. Omkar was the driving force. Founding President and is a current WOBO Board of Governors Member. His life has been dedicated to public safety, and the creation and maintenance of a safe, secure, sanitary, and sustainable built environment. A well deserved honor for a life of service toward safer buildings throughout the world.
