Navigating the challenges surrounding passive fire protection
28 January 2025 11am – 12pm
The world of passive fire protection has seen significant regulatory updates over the past decade, but with these changes have come challenges—gaps in understanding, conflicting standards, and potentially unsafe practices. One key area of concern is fire dampers, which have been identified by leading trade bodies like BESA and OPSS as the “Achilles heel” of fire safety.
Join us for this informative webinar to:
- Explore the grey areas in fire protection standards and classifications.
- Discuss the pivotal role of fire dampers and the risks tied to current practices.
- Highlight the importance of classified partition types and their integration with fire-stopping systems.
- Present solutions for reducing risk and ensuring safe specifications for passive fire protection.
Over the past two years, industrial paint and repair coatings specialist, Watco has been conducting research to understand FMs’ key challenges and how to better manage growing, complex responsibilities.
The research revealed that:
- Over a third regularly go over budget on urgent repair work to remove hazards
- A quarter said that a lack of general maintenance and repair often poses a safety risk
- More than a quarter disagree that employees are aware of potential hazards and know how to control/report risks
Threats to safety resulted in 37% of respondents being affected by slips, trips and falls and only 22% disagreeing that the use of materials handling equipment had caused an accident or near miss. WEBINAR: 30 January 2025 – 11am – REGISTER
