INTRO Cleveland’s Mass Timber Apartment Brings Greener and More Sustainable Living to Ohio

INTRO Cleveland is a nine-story apartment building and the first LEED Gold Certified high rise mass timber complex in Ohio. By using mass timber, the developer was able to a construct a building with lower carbon emissions (40 percent reduction), nitrous oxide (39 percent reduction) and sulfur dioxide (39 percent reduction) than conventional materials.

The Playbook for the Effective Administration and Enforcement of Building Codes

Effective administration and enforcement of modern building codes are essential to strengthening a community’s resilience. They also empower state, local, tribal and territorial (SLTT) governments—as well as federal governments—by enhancing their ability to withstand and recover from disasters. 

To help code enforcement professionals with everyday responsibilities, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) created the Building Codes Enforcement PlaybookReleased in June 2025, the Playbook serves to improve both building administration and code enforcement within jurisdictions to ensure compliance with modern codes, accelerate recovery and support long-term mitigation goals.

Bipartisan Housing Reform Legislation Advances in Congress

The Renewing Opportunity in the American Dream (ROAD) to Housing Act of 2025 includes a wide range of policy approaches to address housing affordability, including provisions to boost supply, modernize financing options, reduce regulatory barriers and promote economic mobility. The bill’s strong bipartisan support could be an indication for Congress to take additional action on the legislation this fall.
