The Australian Building Codes Board (ABCB), a government entity that develops the model building code for all provinces and territories in Australia, is in the process of updating its Indoor Air Quality Verification Methods Handbook to reflect the latest scientific evidence from the COVID-19 pandemic. The ABCB has opened a consultation on its website to seek assistance with identifying relevant research from around the world that may be relevant. They have reached out to the International Code Council for our assistance with this work.

The Code Council values its long-standing collaborative relationship with the ABCB, which shares a building safety mission. Through various international dialogues and forums, our organizations have both benefitted through the mutual exchange of technical information, best practices and cooperation to address global challenges. We encourage Code Council members with indoor air quality expertise and an interest in contributing to an update of the Indoor Air Quality Handbook are asked to complete a survey on ABCB’s Consultation Hub.

Questions about the ABCB project can be directed to Heather Nielsen. The Code Council’s point of contact is Judy Zakreski, vice president of global services.
