New requirements for gutters and downpipes

2022 has been a wet year for many parts of the country, showing us how important working gutters and downpipes are for a roof’s drainage system.

Equally as important is knowing what requirements are new, or have changed in NCC 2022.

Court orders $2 million fine under Water Efficiency Labelling and Standards Scheme

On 9 December 2022, the Federal Court of Australia handed down the judgment in the first civil penalty case under the Water Efficiency Labelling and Standards (WELS) Act 2005.

The Court has ordered 4 companies registered in Perth to pay over $2 million in penalties for supplying tap, shower and lavatory products that were not registered or labelled as required by the WELS Act.

This is a significant precedence for the WELS scheme, which helps Australian consumers choose water efficient products. Plumbing products must be WaterMark certified before they can be registered under the WELS scheme.
