Understanding The 2021 International Residential Code January 30 – 31, 2024 & February 1, 2024 8:45 AM – 4:00 PM CST

Take part in a 3-day course assimilating the use and application based on the 2021 International Residential Code! In this class, students will examine the role of the inspector in today’s ever-changing environment. You will investigate the unwritten and written parts of the job – and everything in between, including providing thorough inspections while remaining within the boundaries of your position, safe buildings, and customer service.

In addition, students will learn approaches to working independently and as part of a team, proper communication, and working in a municipal environment. Students should bring their easiest and toughest inspections experiences for in-class discussions.

Understanding the 2014 Illinois Code Changes

February 2, 2024 | 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM CST

This four-hour course will outline changes present with the adoption of the 2014 Illinois Plumbing Code from the previous 2004 Illinois Plumbing Code.

Participants who attend will receive .4 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) or 4 Contact Hours. This class is approved by the State of Illinois Department of Public Health for licensed plumbers to maintain licenses.

Understanding the 2021 International Residential Code: Plumbing February 2, 2024 | 8:45 AM – 4:00 PM CST

Master Plumbing Concerning the IRC!

Students who successfully complete this course will:

  • Identify & utilize plan review, inspection, and code application during the design process.
  • Participate in the discovery, use, application, intent, and rationale of the code illustrated and modeled in class problem-solving exercises.

A one-day course discussing the plumbing provisions of the International Residential Code. Inspectors will be able to determine requirements for supply and drainage systems covering plumbing fixtures, water heaters, backflow protection, venting, and pipe distribution. Additionally, the course reviews common issues found during inspections, including freezing, pipe protection, drainage, and proper material selection.

Understanding the 2021 International Residential Code: Electrical February 5 – 6, 2024  8:45 AM – 4:00 PM CST

This course is designed for all students, regardless of previous level of electrical knowledge.

Utilizing realistic examples, this 2-day course incorporates the basic requirements for a single-family electrical system based on the Electrical Residential Code. Topics include:

  • electric service
  • grounding
  • circuit requirements
  • receptacle locations
  • specific information on appliances and electrical wiring systems
  • specific information on types of electrical wiring systems

Students will perform a service calculation, size feeders, service conductors, and solve conduit-fill and box-fill problems. Students will also be introduced to over-current protection requirements.

public space lovers,

we are excited to share with you some important updates regarding our upcoming online program on public space!
As previously announced, in January 2024 our custom OpenEdX platform will be available online, and will offer free contents produced by City Space Architecture’s global community, and our partners UN-HabitatKTH Centre for the Future of Places and the European Prize for Urban Public Space.
