AXA UK advises London businesses to review fire risk assessments

AXA COMMERCIAL – itself a division of AXA Insurance UK plc – is advising London businesses to review their fire risk assessments and staff training in the wake of the London Fire Brigade (LFB) announcing that it would no longer respond to daytime activations of automatic fire alarms in most non-residential buildings from October.

Business Sprinkler Alliance highlights sector knowledge gaps at UKREII Forum

REPRESENTATIVES OF the Business Sprinkler Alliance (BSA) attended the UK Real Estate Investment and Infrastructure Forum, which took place at the Royal Armouries Leeds and Leeds Dock on 20-22 May. Slough property manager fined for breaching Fire Safety Order

WAHEED AFZAL, a property manager in Slough, has been ordered to pay £22,646.82 in relation to fire safety breaches following a successful prosecution brought by the Royal Berkshire Fire Authority. Appearing at Reading Magistrates’ Court on 19 June, Afzal pleaded guilty to six charges under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005.

Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service prosecutes Blackpool landlord

LANCASHIRE FIRE and Rescue Service has successfully prosecuted a landlord for his failure to comply with the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, which put the lives and safety of tenants at risk. At Preston Crown Court, Mohammed Asif Khan pleaded guilty to two breaches of the Fire Safety Order in relation to the premises at 25 Bond Street, Blackpool FY4 1BQ.
