The government has launched a scheme that will punish developers who fail to fix dangerous cladding by refusing them planning permission for new homes.
The scheme, which came into law on 1 September as part of the Building Safety Act, will identify members of the industry who are paying to fix the buildings they are responsible for and those who are not.
Those who refuse will be prevented from getting planning permission for new developments or getting building control sign-off.
This will effectively prevent uncooperative developers from building and selling new homes.
