The President of the 76th session of the General Assembly His Excellency Mr. Abdulla Shahid, will convene a High-Level Meeting of the United Nations General Assembly on 28 April 2022 in New York to review progress on the implementation of the New Urban Agenda.
The New Urban Agenda, adopted at the United Nations Conference on Housing and Sustainable Development (Habitat III) was a milestone achievement in October 2016, resulting from the commitment by Member States. As you may recall, the New Urban Agenda like Sustainable Development Goals was developed with the active engagement of stakeholders. The consultation and engagement of stakeholders in follow-up, implementation, monitoring, and reporting was also envisaged in the New Urban Agenda.
In preparation for the High-Level Meeting, UN-Habitat Stakeholder Advisory Group Enterprise (SAGE) will hold a virtual stakeholder consultation on April 4th and 5th, 2022, to coordinate stakeholder recommendations to member states. The consultation will also provide further opportunity for stakeholders to provide feedback on implementation of the New Urban Agenda, challenges, opportunities, partnerships as well as good practices. Please see the attached draft concept note for more details on this.
Please indicate if your organization would like to share good practices in implementation of the New Urban Agenda. A selection Committee will review all submissions and decide which submissions will be presented at the Global Stakeholders Consultation.
